Known trouble spots on the M20D
Mooney's welded steel-tube fuselage cage can corrode internally, especially at the lower longerons and belly — expensive and airframe-critical if advanced. Look for borescope/cage corrosion inspections and any treatment.
Mooney integral 'wet-wing' fuel tanks develop sealant leaks (blue staining) as the sealant ages; a strip-and-reseal is a known several-thousand-dollar job. Look for a tank reseal, patch/leak repairs, or bladder conversion.
