Airworthiness Directive 2010-01-03
one-timeAirworthiness Directives; Fire Fighting Enterprises Limited Portable Halon 1211 Fire Extinguishers as Installed on Various Transport Airplanes, Small Airplanes, and Rotorcraft
What this AD requires
We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for the products listed above. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:
Which aircraft AD 2010-01-03 applies to
Applies to portable Halon 1211 (BCF) fire extinguishers manufactured by Fire Fighting Enterprises Limited that may be installed on, carried, or stowed aboard various transport airplanes, small airplanes, and rotorcraft, certificated in any category -- including but not limited to aircraft from the manufacturers listed in Table 1 of the AD (328 Support Services GmbH/Fairchild Dornier, Aermacchi, Agusta, AgustaWestland, Airbus, Aircraft Industries a.s./LET, Alenia Aeronautica, B-N Group/Britten-Norman, BAE Systems (Operations), The Boeing Company, Embraer, Eurocopter Deutschland, Eurocopter France, Fokker Services, Hawker Beechcraft, Pilatus Aircraft, Saab AB, Short Brothers, Triton America/Adam Aircraft, Vulcanair), all type-certificated models.
Whether AD 2010-01-03 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.
How AD compliance is recorded
A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:
Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.
Look up a tail number →Read the full directive (Federal Register)Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
