Airworthiness Directive 2008-23-08
one-timeAirworthiness Directives; Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH Model DA 42 Airplanes
What this AD requires
We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for the products listed above. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:
Which aircraft AD 2008-23-08 applies to
Applies to all serial numbers of Model DA 42 airplanes with Thielert TAE125-01 engines installed, EXCEPT those airplanes with engines identified by serial number in Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH Mandatory Service Bulletin MSB-42-058 (dated May 21, 2008) that already have wedge locking washers and bonded-in bolts (wire-secured bolts P/N D60-9071-26-01) installed, which are not affected by this AD. Concerns degraded powder coating on the rear RH engine support bracket leading to loose engine-mounting bolts.
Whether AD 2008-23-08 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.
How AD compliance is recorded
A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:
Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.
Look up a tail number →Read the full directive (Federal Register)Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
