Airworthiness Directives; ATR Model ATR42 Airplanes and Model ATR72-101, -102, -201, -202, -211, and -212 Airplanes

What this AD requires

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for the products listed above. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:

ModelsATR72-101, ATR72-102, ATR72-201, ATR72-202, ATR72-211, ATR72-212, ATR42, ATR72

Applies to all ATR42 airplanes, all models, all serial numbers, except those that received ATR modification 04372 (aileron spring tab) in production or ATR Service Bulletin ATR42-27-0081 or ATR42-27-0092 in service; and to ATR72-101/-102/-201/-202/-211/-212 airplanes, all serial numbers, except those that received ATR modification 04373 (aileron spring tab) in production or ATR Service Bulletin ATR72-27-1045 in service.

How AD compliance is recorded

A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:

Method of compliance — The specific action taken (inspected, replaced, modified) and to what revision.
Date — When the work was done.
Aircraft time — Total time in service / tach at compliance — how recurring next-due is computed.
Signature & certificate — The A&P/IA who returned it to service, with certificate number.
