What this AD requires

This document publishes in the Federal Register an amendment adopting Airworthiness Directive (AD) 99-19-22 which was sent previously to all known U.S. owners and operators of Eurocopter Deutschland GMBH (ECD) Model BO-105A, BO-105C, BO-105 C-2, BO-105 CB-2, BO-105 CB-4, BO-105S, BO-105 CS-2, BO-105 CBS-2, BO-105 CBS-4, and BO- 105LS A-1 helicopters by individual letters. This AD requires, before further flight, creating a component log card or equivalent record and determining the age and number of flights on each tension-torsion (TT) strap. The AD also requires inspecting and removing, as necessary, certain unairworthy TT straps. This amendment is prompted by an accident in which a main rotor blade (blade) separated from an ECD Model MBB-BK 117 helicopter because of fatigue failure of the TT strap. The ECD Model MBB-BK 117 and the BO-105 helicopters use the same part- numbered TT strap. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent failure of a TT strap, loss of a blade, and subsequent loss of control of the helicopter.

Whether AD 99-19-22 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.

How AD compliance is recorded

A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:

Method of complianceThe specific action taken (inspected, replaced, modified) and to what revision.
DateWhen the work was done.
Aircraft timeTotal time in service / tach at compliance — how recurring next-due is computed.
Signature & certificateThe A&P/IA who returned it to service, with certificate number.
Is AD 99-19-22 complied with on your aircraft?

Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.

Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
