Airworthiness Directive 99-02-13
one-timeAirworthiness Directives, Eurocopter France Model AS332C, L, and L1 Helicopters
What this AD requires
This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to Eurocopter France (Eurocopter) Model AS332C, L, and L1 helicopters, that requires the replacement of certain main rotor hub spindles (spindles) and flapping hinge pins (pins). This amendment is prompted by testing of aged frequency adapters, which shows that premature failure of the spindles and pins can occur due to increased loading from increased stiffness of the aged frequency adapters. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent the loss of a main rotor blade and subsequent loss of control of the helicopter.
Which aircraft AD 99-02-13 applies to
Life-limits and mandates replacement of main rotor hub spindles/pins on a schedule (3-18 calendar months) based on age since new or since last overhaul as of the effective date; also mandates removal of specific spindle S/N FR25012 and S/N FR25866, and pins S/N M243/FR139/FR230/M127/M112. Establishes a new 8-calendar-year retirement life for the spindles/pins. Installation of main rotor hub modification 332A07-43100 is terminating action. References Eurocopter France SB 01.00.44.
Whether AD 99-02-13 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.
How AD compliance is recorded
A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:
Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.
Look up a tail number →Read the full directive (Federal Register)Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
