Airworthiness Directive 98-6952
one-timeAirworthiness Directives; Raytheon (Beech) Model 400, 400A, 400T, MU-300, and MU-300-10 Airplanes
What this AD requires
This amendment supersedes an existing airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain Raytheon (Beech) Model 400, 400A, 400T, MU- 300, MU-300-10 airplanes, that currently requires replacement of outflow/safety valves with serviceable valves. This amendment revises the applicability of the existing AD to add an airplane model and to remove other airplanes, as well as to identify the serial numbers of affected airplanes. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent cracking and consequent failure of the outflow/safety valves, which could result in rapid decompression of the airplane.
Which aircraft AD 98-6952 applies to
Replace the outflow/safety valve per AlliedSignal Aerospace SB 103570-21-4012 Rev 1 (May 30, 1995) or Raytheon SB No. 2476 Rev II (June 1997). Model 400, 400A, MU-300-10: replace within 18 months after Sept 24, 1996 (effective date of superseded AD 96-17-10). Model 400T (military) and MU-300: replace within 18 months after the effective date of this AD. As of effective date, no person may install an outflow/safety valve identified by P/N and S/N in the AlliedSignal SB unless it is serviceable per the applicable SB. Prevents cracking/failure of outflow/safety valves that could cause rapid decompression.
Whether AD 98-6952 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.
Supersession
Supersedes AD 96-17-10.
How AD compliance is recorded
A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:
Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.
Look up a tail number →Read the full directive (Federal Register)Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
