Airworthiness Directives; Cessna Aircraft Company 100, 200, 300, and 400 Series Airplanes

What this AD requires

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to Cessna Aircraft Company (Cessna) 100, 200, 300, and 400 series airplanes. This action requires checking the airplane maintenance records for any fuel, oil, or hydraulic hose, Cessna part number (P/N) S51-10, replaced between March 1995 and February 3, 1997 (the effective date of this AD); immediately checking any of these hoses for a diagonal or spiral external reinforcement wrap; and immediately replacing any of these hoses that have a diagonal or spiral external reinforcement wrap with one that has a criss-cross external reinforcement wrap. This action was prompted by reports of operators experiencing a loss of engine power because of low fuel feed, in addition to Cessna discovering that the rubber hose installed at the factory on certain Cessna Models 208 and 208B airplanes was defective. The Cessna P/N S51-10 rubber hose is utilized on fuel, oil, and hydraulic hoses on the affected airplanes. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent fuel, oil, or hydraulic systems failure caused by a collapsed hose.

Applies to any fuel, oil, or hydraulic hose, Cessna P/N S51-10, replaced on the airplane between March 1995 and Feb 3 1997 (the AD's effective date); such hoses must be checked for a diagonal/spiral external reinforcement wrap per the model-specific service bulletin listed (Reims/Cessna CAB96-21 for F406; Cessna CQB96-3 for 425; Cessna SEB96-15 for the 150/152/172/175/177/180/182/185/188/206/207/210 single-engine series; Cessna CAB96-15 Rev 1 for 208/208B; Cessna MEB96-10 for T303/310/335/336/337 twins). Model list is truncated by the source text at 'FT337F...' -- additional twin-engine models later in the same SB (e.g. 340/401/402/411/414/421 series) may exist in the full bulletin but are not captured in the extracted applicability window and are therefore not included here to avoid inventing values. To prevent fuel, oil, or hydraulic systems failure caused by a collapsed hose.

Whether AD 97-01-13 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.

How AD compliance is recorded

A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:

Method of complianceThe specific action taken (inspected, replaced, modified) and to what revision.
DateWhen the work was done.
Aircraft timeTotal time in service / tach at compliance — how recurring next-due is computed.
Signature & certificateThe A&P/IA who returned it to service, with certificate number.
Is AD 97-01-13 complied with on your aircraft?

Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.

Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
