Airworthiness Directives; Raytheon (Beech) Model 400A, 400T (Military T-1A), and 400T (Military TX) Series Airplanes

What this AD requires

This amendment supersedes an existing airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain Raytheon (Beech) Model 400A and 400T series airplanes, that currently requires an inspection of certain flap roller retention components to detect discrepant or missing parts; replacement of those parts; and installation of new washers on the roller attach bolts. This amendment requires the replacement of certain previously- installed washers with new and stronger washers. This amendment also expands the applicability of the rule to include additional airplanes. This amendment is prompted by reports indicating that some locking tab washers on the roller attach bolt could fail, due to the absence of an inner tang. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent the loss of roller attach nuts and the flap roller, which could result in the loss of a flap when the airplane is subject to load limit conditions, and consequently lead to reduced controllability of the airplane.

Flap roller attach bolt washer/tab-washer replacement to prevent loss of roller attach nuts and the flap roller under load-limit conditions. Airplanes already reworked under Beech SB No. 2522 (Jan 1994) / AD 94-14-06 (Amdt 39-8958) must replace the washers again with new tab washers P/N 45A16122-37 (plus flat washer AN960D616L and washer AN960-616) per SB No. 2522 Rev. 1 (May 1996) Part I within 200 hrs TIS or 1 year, whichever first; other airplanes follow a separate paragraph (truncated in the extracted text). The specific affected model designation is not present in the extracted applicability window.

Whether AD 96-31114 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.

Supersession

Supersedes AD 94-14-06.

How AD compliance is recorded

A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:

Method of complianceThe specific action taken (inspected, replaced, modified) and to what revision.
DateWhen the work was done.
Aircraft timeTotal time in service / tach at compliance — how recurring next-due is computed.
Signature & certificateThe A&P/IA who returned it to service, with certificate number.
Is AD 96-31114 complied with on your aircraft?

Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.

Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
