Airworthiness Directive 96-19277
recurringAirworthiness Directives; The New Piper Aircraft, Inc. (Formerly Piper Aircraft Corporation) Models PA31, PA31-300, PA31-325, and PA31- 350 Airplanes; Correction
What this AD requires
This action makes a correction to Airworthiness Directive (AD) 96-12-12, which was published in the Federal Register on June 6, 1996 (61 FR 28733), and concerns The New Piper Aircraft, Inc. Models PA31, PA31-300, PA31-325, and PA31-350 airplanes. That publication incorrectly references the date for the instructions to Piper Kit 763- 917 as ``revised June 18, 1980'' instead of ``revised June 18, 1990.'' The AD currently requires repetitively inspecting the upper section of the Fuselage Station (FS) 317.75 bulkhead for cracks, and incorporating one of two reinforcement kits depending on whether cracks are found in the FS 317.75 bulkhead area. This action corrects the AD to reflect the correct date of the instructions to Piper Kit 763-917.
Which aircraft AD 96-19277 applies to
Whether AD 96-19277 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.
How AD compliance is recorded
A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:
Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.
Look up a tail number →Read the full directive (Federal Register)Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
