Airworthiness Directive 95-20-07
recurringAirworthiness Directives; The New Piper Aircraft, Inc. (Formerly Piper Aircraft Corporation) PA24, PA28R, PA30, PA32R, PA34, and PA39 Series Airplanes
What this AD requires
This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to certain The New Piper Aircraft, Inc. (Piper) PA24, PA28R, PA30, PA32R, PA34, and PA39 series airplanes. This action requires repetitively inspecting the main gear side brace studs for cracks and replacing any cracked main gear side brace stud. Several reports of main gear side brace stud cracks on the affected airplanes, including seven incidents where the main landing gear (MLG) collapsed, prompted this action. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent a MLG collapse caused by main gear side brace stud cracks, which, if not detected and corrected, could result in loss of control of the airplane during landing operations.
Which aircraft AD 95-20-07 applies to
Applies to specified Piper models regardless of prior modification/repair, to prevent main landing gear collapse from side brace stud cracks. Affected models were equipped at manufacture with specific main gear side brace stud part numbers: P/N 20829-00 (Models PA24, PA24-250), P/N 22512-00 (Models PA24-260, PA24-400, PA30, PA39), and P/N 95299-00, 95299-02, or 78717-02 (Models PA28R-180, PA28R-200, PA28R-201, PA28R-201T, PA32R-300, PA34-200, PA34-200T).
Whether AD 95-20-07 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.
How AD compliance is recorded
A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:
Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.
Look up a tail number →Read the full directive (Federal Register)Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
