Airworthiness Directive 95-16-08
one-timeAirworthiness Directives; AlliedSignal, Inc. TPE331 Series Turboprop and TSE331 Series Turboshaft Engines
What this AD requires
This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to AlliedSignal, Inc. (formerly Allied-Signal, Inc., Garrett Engine Division, Garrett Turbine Engine Company, and AiResearch Manufacturing Co. of Arizona) TPE331 series turboprop and TSE331 series turboshaft engines, that requires a record check of engine records to determine if any repair, assembly, modification, or installation work was performed by Fliteline Maintenance, formerly located in Wharton, Texas, or Mr. Eugene E. Shanks, or Mr. Carl Ramirez (collectively referred to as ``Fliteline''). In addition, for engines determined to have repair, assembly, modification, or installation work performed by Fliteline, this action requires verification of all life limited components, inspection of affected components, and verification of compliance with all applicable AD's. This amendment is prompted by the results of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigation involving engines repaired, assembled, modified, or installed by Fliteline. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent uncontained failure of turbine rotors, fire, or loss of aircraft control.
Which aircraft AD 95-16-08 applies to
Extracted text begins at the standard 'preceding applicability provision' boilerplate; the AD's actual engine model/family list precedes this excerpt and was not captured by extraction. Applies to each engine identified in that provision regardless of prior modification, alteration, or repair. Requires review of engine life-limited-part logs and maintenance/repair records within 400 cycles in service to identify any engine repair, assembly, or modification performed by, or life-limited turbine components received from, Fliteline Maintenance (Wharton, TX, repair station GR2R856K), mechanic Eugene E. Shanks (cert. 1914482), or mechanic Carl Ramirez (cert. 466432551); requires further verification/matching of life-limited parts against records, to prevent uncontained turbine rotor failure, fire, or loss of aircraft control. AlliedSignal Engines is referenced as the manufacturer records/customer-information contact.
Whether AD 95-16-08 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.
How AD compliance is recorded
A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:
Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.
Look up a tail number →Read the full directive (Federal Register)Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
