Airworthiness Directive 2013-14-09
one-timeAirworthiness Directives; Bombardier, Inc. Airplanes
What this AD requires
We are superseding airworthiness directive (AD) 2012-14-04 for certain Bombardier, Inc. Model DHC-8-100, -200, and -300 series airplanes. AD 2012-14-04 required replacing certain parking brake accumulators. This new AD retains this requirement. This new AD also requires installing restraint devices around the parking brake accumulator end caps. We are issuing this AD to prevent failure of a parking brake accumulator screw cap or end cap resulting in loss of the number 2 hydraulic system and damage to airplane structures, which could adversely affect the controllability of the airplane.
Which aircraft AD 2013-14-09 applies to
Applies to serial numbers 003 and subsequent (open-ended). NOTE: the applicability text returned by prep_slice.py for this AD was a mis-sliced excerpt (Costs of Compliance / Regulatory Findings section, concerning a parking brake accumulator, superseding AD 2012-14-04). The fields above were sourced from the AD's actual Applicability paragraph via federalregister.gov (FR Doc 2013-18771, 78 FR 47543, published 2013-08-20).
Whether AD 2013-14-09 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.
How AD compliance is recorded
A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:
Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.
Look up a tail number →Read the full directive (Federal Register)Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
