What this AD requires

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for the products listed above. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. Five equipment-conditioned groups (all manufacturer serial numbers, all certificated categories), each restricted to airplanes equipped with a specific Hamilton Sundstrand ram air turbine (RAT) turbine assembly (or a RAT turbine lower gear box assembly whose part number cannot be determined): (1) A300-600/A310 models per Hamilton Sundstrand SB 730816-29-15 dated Aug 4, 2009 (A310) and SB 732365-29-7 dated Aug 4, 2009 (A300-600 series); (2) A318/A319/A320/A321 models, RAT Model ERPS08M per SB ERPS08M-29-8 dated June 17, 2009; (3) A330 models, RAT lower gearbox assembly per SB ERPS06G-29-6 dated July 20, 2009; (4) A340-211/-212/-213/-311/-312/-313 models, RAT lower gearbox assembly per SB ERPS06G-29-6 dated July 20, 2009; (5) A340-541/-642 models, RAT lower gearbox assembly per SB ERPS33G-29-1 dated July 20, 2009.

A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:

Method of compliance — The specific action taken (inspected, replaced, modified) and to what revision.
Date — When the work was done.
Aircraft time — Total time in service / tach at compliance — how recurring next-due is computed.
Signature & certificate — The A&P/IA who returned it to service, with certificate number.
