Airworthiness Directives; Various Aircraft Equipped With Rotax Aircraft Engines 912 A Series Engines

What this AD requires

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for the products listed above. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:

Which aircraft AD 2010-23-17 applies to

MakesRotax Aircraft Engines
Models912 A, 912 A2, 912 A3, 912
Serial-conditional — narrows to serials ?–27811.

Applies to aircraft equipped with a Rotax 912 A series engine with a crankcase assembly serial number up to and including S/N 27811. Affected aircraft/engine combinations: Aeromot AMT-200 (912 A2), Diamond HK 36 R Super Dimona (912 A), Diamond HK 36 TS/TC (912 A3), Diamond DA20-A1 (912 A3), HOAC DV 20 Katana (912 A3), Iniziative Industriali Sky Arrow 650 TC (912 A2), Scheibe SF 25C (912 A2 or 912 A3).

Whether AD 2010-23-17 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.

How AD compliance is recorded

A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:

Method of complianceThe specific action taken (inspected, replaced, modified) and to what revision.
DateWhen the work was done.
Aircraft timeTotal time in service / tach at compliance — how recurring next-due is computed.
Signature & certificateThe A&P/IA who returned it to service, with certificate number.
Is AD 2010-23-17 complied with on your aircraft?

Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.

Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
