Airworthiness Directives; Turbomeca Astazou XIV B and XIV H Turboshaft Engines

What this AD requires

We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for the products listed above. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as:

Which aircraft AD 2010-11-10 applies to

Part-conditional0265257000, 0265257020, 0265257060, 0265257050.

Applies only to third stage turbine wheels that incorporate modification AB173 (Turbomeca SB No. 283 72 0091) or modification AB208 (Turbomeca SB No. 283 72 0117) but do not incorporate Turbomeca SB No. 283 72 805. P/Ns 0265257000, 0265257020, and 0265257060 apply at all serial numbers; P/N 0265257050 applies only to the serial numbers listed in Appendix 1 of Turbomeca MSB No. 283 72 0804, Version C, dated October 23, 2009.

Whether AD 2010-11-10 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.

How AD compliance is recorded

A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:

Method of complianceThe specific action taken (inspected, replaced, modified) and to what revision.
DateWhen the work was done.
Aircraft timeTotal time in service / tach at compliance — how recurring next-due is computed.
Signature & certificateThe A&P/IA who returned it to service, with certificate number.
Is AD 2010-11-10 complied with on your aircraft?

Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.

Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
