Airworthiness Directive 2003-06-02
one-timeAirworthiness Directives; Hartzell Propeller Inc. Model HC-C2Y(K,R)-1BF/F8477-4 Propellers
What this AD requires
This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), that is applicable to certain Hartzell Propeller Inc. model HC-C2Y(K,R)-1BF/ F8477-4 propellers with TKS (Aircraft De-icing) Ltd. anti-ice boots that were installed by SOCATA-Groupe AEROSPATIALE, the aircraft manufacturer, using TKS Ltd. Procedure P232, Specification for the Attachment of Propeller Overshoes. This amendment requires removal of the anti-ice boots, inspection and rework of the anti-ice boot area of the propeller blades, and installation of new anti-ice boots. This amendment is prompted by a report of TKS (Aircraft De-icing) Ltd. anti- ice boots on the blades of a model HC-C2Y(K,R)-1BF/F8477-4 propeller that were installed by SOCATA-Groupe AEROSPATIALE using processes that could lead to blade corrosion and failure. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent propeller blade separation, damage to the airplane, and possible loss of the airplane.
Which aircraft AD 2003-06-02 applies to
Applies to Hartzell propellers on which TKS (Aircraft De-icing) Ltd. anti-ice boots have been installed; compliance path depends on whether the boots were installed/re-installed using TKS Procedure P232 vs. Hartzell Manual 133C/AS&T Procedure 4700INS (per Hartzell ASB HC-ASB-61-251); specific propeller model designations are not present in the extracted text.
Whether AD 2003-06-02 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.
How AD compliance is recorded
A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:
Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.
Look up a tail number →Read the full directive (Federal Register)Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
