Airworthiness Directives; Agusta S.p.A. Model A109A and A109A II Helicopters

What this AD requires

This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Agusta S.p.A. (Agusta) Model A109A and A109A II helicopters. This AD requires radiographic inspections of the internal surface of each main rotor blade spar (spar) for corrosion. This AD is prompted by the discovery of corrosion on the internal surfaces of the spar in the area adjacent to the main rotor blade inertia balance weights. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent failure of a main rotor blade due to corrosion on the internal surface of the spar and subsequent loss of control of the helicopter.

Which aircraft AD 2000-15-20 applies to

MakesAgusta

Main rotor blade internal spar corrosion inspection (radiographic/eddy current/dye penetrant) per Agusta Service Bulletin No. 109-111; blades re-identified with vibro-etched 'R'/'RC'/'C' marks based on findings at STA 1354/2825. Specific helicopter model not explicitly named in the excerpted text.

Whether AD 2000-15-20 actually applies to your aircraft (by serial and installed parts) and whether it’s already complied with comes from that aircraft’s records.

How AD compliance is recorded

A valid compliance record (14 CFR 43.9) states:

Method of complianceThe specific action taken (inspected, replaced, modified) and to what revision.
DateWhen the work was done.
Aircraft timeTotal time in service / tach at compliance — how recurring next-due is computed.
Signature & certificateThe A&P/IA who returned it to service, with certificate number.
Is AD 2000-15-20 complied with on your aircraft?

Tailplate reads a tail number’s logbooks and matches every applicable AD — including this one — to its compliance evidence, with recurring next-due dates computed.

Applicability is derived from the FAA directive corpus and is advisory, not a legal airworthiness determination. Compliance is established only from an aircraft’s actual records.
